This resource, designed for child abuse and neglect prevention organizations, establishes guidance on how to become a trauma informed organization. Using the core values as identified by Fallot and Harris, the resource provides guiding principles to be used in the design and implementation of developmentally appropriate child- and family-serving organizations.

The guiding principles are subsequently broken down into 11 different subcategories, which help to give a more focused approach to becoming trauma informed. Finally, within the subcategories, the outline includes specific goals unique to both direct service providers and their supervisors/agency leaders. This feature allows the group to build trauma informed direct services and also assess how the organization embraces these goals internally. To accompany the outline, the Wisconsin Children’s Trust Fund also has an organizational self assessment. This provides an opportunity for organizational members to take stock of progress towards becoming trauma informed.
